Adam Ballard?

ADAM BALLARD - CO-FOUNDER. ADAM IS THE CO-FOUNDER OF GLOVES NOT GUNZ.

Adam has been running Croydon Boxing club for the last 8 years and competed in Thai boxing under world famous coach Kieran Keddle. After he stopped competing he found a love for coaching and mentoring young people. Being a coach for the last 8 years Adam has built fantastic relationships in his local community of Thornton Heath, His role within the community has led to him mentoring young people and diverting them away from crime. Families within the community will often lean on Adam for support and advice. Adam is currently training to become a qualified youth worker and is Director of operations within Gloves Not Gunz. Adam believes that community cohesion is the real success to reducing youth violence and crime and pro-actively looks to set up partnership work with groups within the community.

Ben Eckett – Co founderBEN ECKETT IS THE CO-FOUNDER OF GLOVES NOT GUNZ.

Ben has over 12 years of experience working within Youth work, Youth offending, Children services, and managing his own projects. He is a qualified Youth worker, level 3 counsellor, level 3 safeguard officer and is a qualified personal trainer and yoga teacher.

In recent years Ben has run programmes supporting young people involved in gangs within a variety of London Boroughs. Last year Ben was lead on a residential that was aimed at young people at risk during Notting Hill Carnival.

Ben is passionate about working with young people and families, he believes that the whole community has a role in reducing youth violence and crime.

PRECIEUX (BUT WE CALL HIM P!)PROGRAMME LEAD

P is 19 years old and one of our programme leads within Gloves Not Gunz. He is an active boxer and has amassed a perfect record so far in his Journey. He has previously worked and supported in Pupil Referral Unit’s and is the lead on our Community Sessions within Croydon. Since joining the organisation P has been recognised at national level within media and received the prestigious award of “Nike Londoner” for his services to young people through sport. P will shortly be going to university to study for a business degree. P got involved in the project as he himself got involved in dangerous activities when he was younger and recognised that having an outlet in a positive leisure activity can divert young people away from offending.
